Major Moscow's Attacks Cut Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and dealt with interruptions to drinking water, per reports from municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a young boy was fatally injured in a distinct assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has increased strikes on electrical systems over recent weeks, while the country's government has demanded "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the America, Europe and the Group of Seven - in providing protection systems and implementing restrictions," he wrote in a online statement.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen rockets attacked the country's power systems, characterizing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were working to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes struck energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the attacks on the city have been transported for medical care, per statements from city authorities.

Local officials said the metropolitan region experienced significant strikes overnight. A seven-year-old child lost their life and multiple civilians were injured.

The attacks follow nights of aerial attacks in the territory, sections of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to detect.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already impacting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and officials were bracing for more assaults.
